After reading the title, no need to assume anything that I was off to any islands or something! (Though I would like to some day :D) Having nothing else to do on a Sunday, myself, along withother family members went to the Chennai trade fair at Island grounds! When I entered it, I should agree that I was very irritated with the crowd which had planned to hurt me to the max by stepping on my foot!! The crowd was some 5 times bigger than the one which you see at Pondy Bazar.
But as time went by, I started enjoying with all my lil cousins who tagged along to visit stalls. I should say my lil cousins enjoyed to the max, which you can see from the below pic!
Even I wanted to sneak in but there was a guy standing there, who resembled like one in this pic. So I thought its better for me to stand outside and just "Sigh"!
Even my unfortunate cousins (who were not able to sneak in) had fun! My cousins were targeting my uncle and were trying to irritate him.
My poor uncle was very patient for sometime but ultimately, out of frustration, he replied back in his own way :D
Looking at them play with the soap bubbles, I got reminded of the conversation that myself and my friend had before leaving for the fair. He told me that he used to go with his mom to the fair when he was in 5th or 6th std! [Now he is working!] He also recommended me to try the big appalams, Mollaga Baji and all the rides! Before keeping the phone down, he asked me to get something for him. I was feeling very lazy and tired to check out all the stalls, so I saved myself from the trouble of checking out everything and got him also one soap bubbles container :P I hope he likes it :D [C'mon ok, he didnt tell me what he wanted and secondly there was nothing much for him out there, unless he likes carrying leather handbags to office or wearing all strange kinds of hairbands! Which I definitely know that he dont :P] We also happily munched on the big big appalams!
Though we wanted to try out all the rides, but unfortunately we were not able to, since it was bloody crowded!!! All of us thought for a second whether we should enter the area somehow but then decided against it due to following reasons :
1. We dont have a family song! So that we can sing it to find our family members if they got lost!
2. We were not wearing the same kind of dresses! The bright red colour shirts and frocks with the big big yellow colour flowers painted on it.
So after contemplating over the above reasons, we decided to check out few stalls! My cousin got one amazing pic of displays at one shop!
The shopkeeper was very angry with her since she didn't take his photo along with his(er.. not exactly his own but his shop's) displays! He explained her that he wanted to show his perfect Colgate smile!
In between, in order to console my lil bro(since we didnt go anywhere near the rides), we entered the ghost house! My mom and aunt stayed back stating that they needed to sleep peacefully in the night. So myself, ,my sis, all my cousins, my uncle and aunt entered the house. With their heads high, the kids proudly walked into the darkness. But when we came out, my sis was choking my uncle by hugging his neck very tightly and my cousins were choking my aunt by tugging at both the ends of her dupatta! It was a fabulous sight to watch! I wanted to take a snap but by the time I could take out my mobile, they opened their eyes and shrugged as if nothing happened at all. Next morning my mom told me that my sis didnt sleep the whole night but that's another story! Myself and my five year old cousin enjoyed the ghost house to the core! In fact at one point, both of us startled one TALL guy going in front of us by making a sound all of a sudden. That poor guy didnt expect it all.
After we were completely drained out of energy, we headed to a restaurant where my family took such a long time to decide upon the orders that my lil bro started making rockets out of tissues! Actually he was very irritated because the waiter forgot his order which consisted of chocolate milkshake, vanilla ice cream and one "Bonda" :)
