The crucial hour.. !

She looked at her watch every 5 mins!

“Damn! Of all the days, why should today only Chandu get ill?!”

Chandu was her office cab driver. Since cab is not available, she has to catch an auto or bus. 

Her head was reeling with thoughts.

“What will the doctor say? Will shanthi will be able to manage it all alone?! Oh my god! Please let the reports be positive. Please let Anuj be fine”

She again checked the time. 5:45. The doctor was supposed to give the report at 6. She knew for a fact that Anuj’s parents were on the way to the hospital while Shanthi – Anuj’s wife was all alone. She took out her cell phone and called her friend’s number and informed her that she is on her way. She added with a pause that to inform what is there in the report if she fails to reach there on time.

“Don’t worry Shanthi. Anuj will be fine. Keep praying to the god”

She knew for a fact that her thoughts will not change the report. It’s all in the Dr.Kalpana’s hand. Dr. Kalpana is handling Anuj’s case. She hates that doctor to the core. That day when that doctor taunted Shanthi, she wanted to give her a tight slap right there at the spot. How Shanthi cried on that day!

Finally an auto came in to sight. But that heartless guy asked her 60 bucks!! She bargained for a moment and finally gave up. Not today, she thought. Today is an emergency! The auto moved at a snail’s pace.

“For god’s sake, please go faster”

Finally she reached! She gave him the exact change, which she had it ready before itself. She didn’t want to waste even a minute. She looked at her watch. It was almost time. She climbed the stairs. There was no time to waste for the lift to come. Her friend was waiting for her. Both of them went in the room together, grabbed the available chairs.

And switched on the TV and changed to their favorite serial - Shanthi.
